Matthew Descends on Bahamas
posted (October 5, 2016)

Hurricane Matthew, a storm that was at one point recorded as the strongest hurricane in the region in the last decade, passed through Haiti, the Dominican Republic and parts of Cuba yesterday, leaving devastation in its wake. Matthew, now a Category 3 hurricane, has moved on to its next target, the Bahamas.

Since it made landfall yesterday, at least 25 people have been killed in Haiti, and the Dominican Republic, and thousands have been displaced. Heavy flood waters swept through urban areas and farm lands, carrying cars, boats and livestock and even uprooting trees.

While the STORM MAKES LANDFALL IN THE Bahamas tonight, residents of Florida and other states in the South Eastern US have begun their evacuation efforts.
