Musa Says Brackett’s Tyre Comments Have No Bearing On What Happened
posted (October 5, 2016)

But Brackett’s comments to the teachers about “a little tire getting burnt here and thereâ€￾ – how damning is it really? His attorney said it is inconsequential:…

Jules Vasquez
"Are you concerned that those comments may assist in framing him?"

Hon. Kareem Musa - Attorney for Brackett/Smith
"They are absolutely in no way connected, they would have to try to connect those dots and it’s a far stretch to even connect that. Geovanni say things on a daily basis against this government but there is no connection, you have actually go out there and light the fire to be charged with this particular offence and that's not what the police is saying you know. They are not saying Geovanni went out there and set this thing on fire and that's the injustice of this whole thing, they are trying to say that he is one who organised it."

ACP Chester Williams - Commander, Southside
"There is a difference between demonstrating peacefully and wanting to be out there to disrupt a society. As a police department we have an obligation by law to protect life and property and to prevent and detect crime and we must live up to our mandate. So we are ensuring that our mandate where that in concerned is followed. The teachers have been very peaceful, I don't think it is right for anyone to ride on the back of the teachers and be out there perpetrating these sorts of activities."
