Magicians Visit And Cast A Spell
posted (October 5, 2016)

Magicians from South America and Europe will cast a spell with a mind bending performance at the Biltmore this weekend.

It’s the “Intermagiaâ€￾ Magic Show, organized by the Rotary Club of Belize, which features 3 magicians from Spain, Guatemala and Chile.  They stopped by our studio today to tell us how they will show Belizeans what magic is all about.  First, the Rotary’s Fundraising Director did the introductions:

Misty Michael – Fundraising Director, Rotary Club of Belize Sunrise
"This is the second year that our rotary club is organizing the Intermagia Magic Show. It’s basically a magic show that has magicians from Central America, Guatemala, Mexico, Chile, Costa Rica, we have one from Spain who has worked with a very famous magician that some Belizeans might know, by the name of Chris Angel, in Las Vegas."

Alex Courtenay
"And can you tell us a bit about the show that will be happening?"

Misty Michael – Fundraising Director, Rotary Club of Belize Sunrise
"Okay, well we have three shows this weekend. The first is Friday at 7:30, and we have 2 one Saturday one at 2 one at 7, and its being held at the Biltmore. And basically it’s a fun family oriented event, entertainment for kids and adults alike. Tickets are $20 per person, kids 2 and up pay. And tickets are available at the Biltmore plaza hotel and central drug store downtown."

Adrian Vega – Spanish Magician
"My name is Adrian Vega, I am all the way from Spain, actually I am living in Las Vegas with Chris Angel, and I am part of one of his shows. I am doing close up magic, it’s one of the kinds of magic that it’s difficult to see in a big theatre so here we will have the opportunity to see this kind of magic, close up with a bigger scree. So we will play it bigger, and I hope that you enjoy."

Alexander Guz – Guatemalan Magician
"My name is Alexander Guz, I’m from Guatemala and I do magic. I’ve been doing magic for the past eight years. Since then I’ve been working in different parts of the world, travelling with my magic, with my act. Most of the things that I do are close up things, things that you can see in a group, in close situations, which is the kind of magic that I enjoy the most because I don’t use big props, and I can connect with people a lot."

Rodrigo Toloza – Chilean Magician
"So what he does on stage is that he interacts with the public a lot. He makes people go out to the stage with him, volunteer with him and use magic as a tool to share the comedy and make people a good time and laugh a lot."

And of course, no introduction of magicians would be complete without a small performance. Vega, Guz and Toloza gave us a sneak peak of some tricks you can look forward to seeing at their shows.

The magicians promise that the show will be fun and entertaining for all ages, and they urge that the members of the audience keep an open mind and have no fears when asked to participate in the performance.
