posted (November 10, 2016)
So, while the NGO Community works on deciding who will be the 13th parliamentarian to ascend the upper House, the PUP is reporting that they have chosen 2 persons who they want to sit on the Integrity Commission.

You'll remember that the Prime Minister agreed to reactivate the commission, the very same time he agreed to sign the commencement order for the 13th Senator. That was when he was was negotiating with the Teachers to end the 11-day strike, and today, the PUP says, Quote, "Leader of the Opposition, Hon. John Briceno, after careful consultation, has nominated Mrs. Melissa Balderamos- Mahler and Mrs. Claudette Grinage to serve as members of the Integrity Commission. This is in accordance with Section 3(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act which provides that two of the members of the Integrity Commission shall be appointed by the Governor-General, acting in accordance with the advice of the Prime Minister given with the concurrence of the Leader of the Opposition.

The PUP has every confidence that both Mrs. Balderamos Mahler and Mrs. Grinage will aptly represent the people of Belize on the Integrity Commission. We wish them both all the best in their new capacities." End quote.
