posted (November 10, 2016)
If you want to be Belize's next Marie Sharp, you will Want to attend tomorrow's women entrepreneurship leadership conference. Now of course, the organizers aren't confining you to pitching ideas for a new brand of pepper sauce, they want female entrepreneurs to be innovative and also to succeed in their own business venture. The conference is all about empowering women through business opportunities and the President for the Belize Center for Training and Development, Danalyn Myvett told us more about how this conference will take these aspiring female entrepreneurs to the next level.

Danalyn Myvette, President - BZ Center for Training and Development
"The women entrepreneurship leadership conference which will take place tomorrow at the Belize Biltmore plaza is the signature event that is being put off in Belize to celebrate support and empower women. It is a part of a global movement that is happening all across many countries over the month. In the context of where the empowerment of women is occurring particularly in this program is in the entrepreneur, the business space. One of the ways in which we look to do that is through networking. so the conference is a part of where you get to link, you get to meet like-minded women, you get exposed to relatable role models who will talk about their journeys and what it has been like to grow their business and you get the opportunity to be exposed to ways in which other programs outside of Belize can support the growth of your business."

Valerie Grant, Commonwealth Business Women Ambassador
"In November of 2015 I was awarded as a commonwealth woman entrepreneur of the year in Malta and so as a part of my flagship initiative as Commonwealth business woman ambassador, there is a fundraiser which is a crowd funding initiative that will help women entrepreneurs to access financing through grant funding. There is a part that they have to pay, they have to actually go to FundRiseHER.com and apply for these grants. They have to actually tell us why it is that they are deserving of accepting the grants because it's a competitive process. It is a process that is geared at raising one million U.S dollars across 10 Caribbean countries to support 50 entrepreneurs. In Belize there are going to be competing against the best of entrepreneurs that Belize has to offer, so they have to make a compelling pace and really sell their business and really prove to the panel of judges that they are capable of taking their business to the next level and demonstrate that its sustainable."

The conference will be held tomorrow at the Biltmore. The conference will cater to 100 participants. If you want to participate you can register online at Lead-Her-Ship.org or you can show up tomorrow. You can also find out more about the Fund Rise Her grant program on the Belize Center for Training and Development facebook page or you can find out more at the conference.
