Family Heard When They Killed Loved One
posted (November 14, 2016)
As you just heard, Williams was killed only a block from his home. That means his family heard the gunshot that killed him - but they couldn't have known that it was their own loved one lying dead behind the wheel of his brother's taxi. Today, his sister told us how they got the news. Fearing for her safety because threats have been received, she asked to appear off camera:...

"When I heard the gunshots my gentleman asked me 'Terry did you hear that?' I said 'yes I hear it'. After that I couldn't go back to sleep, I just felt my heart got full. My phone rang about 15 minutes after. My little sister called me in tears and said 'Ter, they just killed Andrew'. Right there I started to cry, I just came out of bed, put on my clothes and went to Mahogany Street. I saw the ambulance out there and a lot of people. When I arrived, I just saw my brother's head hanging down in the car in the passenger side and his feet are by the driver's side."

"What are the police saying right now? Are they offering any protection for the family or anything?"

Voice of: Family Member
"Yes that's what we are asking for, protection for the family."

Courtney Weatherburne
"Because you said you all are getting threats?"

Voice of: Family Member
"Well my mom at the back are getting threats?"

Courtney Weatherburne
"So he didn't tell you or any family member if he was in trouble or anybody was out to get him. Why did they do this to him?"

Voice of: Family Member
"He didn't tell me anything because the last time I saw him was a month ago."

Courtney Weatherburne
"What type of person was he? As your brother were you all very close? How will the family remember him? How will the community remember him?"

Voice of: Family Member
"Well my little brother was a hard working person who used to do mechanic and any little job that has to do with mechanic, he would do to make his little money. Whenever I go to my mom's he'd be like 'what's up Tera?' and I'd be like 'nothing brother, cool?' and that's it."

7News is reliably informed that a relative had reported to the GSU that Andrew Williams had been receiving repeated threats. They feel that decisive action was not taken.
