Defence Minister Goes To Belize-Guat Border Hotspots

Defence Minister of John Saldivar's tour of the BDF's Western military installations ended yesterday along the Belize - Guatemala border. Saldivar was flown out from Camp Belizario via BDF helicopter to assess the preparedness of the installations closer to border. He visited CARACOL which is where lawman Danny Conorquie was killed by Guatemalan bandits. He then flew unto military outposts in Ceibo Chico and Rio Blanco, which is less than a mile from the border.

In two weeks, Saldivar will begin a tour of BDF's Southern camps. According to a release, "the purpose of the Minister's tour is to evaluate the BDF's ability to execute various functions, and determine whether the instillations need to be better equipped to carry out those functions."
