Ladyville looters came up short after police foiled their operation this morning. Police responded to a burglary in progress in the Lake Gardens area around 10:36 but when they got there, they only found a number of house appliances outside, the thieves had already made their first trip with other items on foot and were going to come back for the others. Now while police didn’t catch the culprits, the police prevented them from cleaning out the entire house. Police told us more about how this incident played out.

"A distress call was made that a burglary was in progress in the Lake Gardens area, that would be the extreme end of the Lake Gardens area, we responded but upon our response the culprits had already left the area, however apparently some of their looting was left in the premises at least we managed to deal with that part , to deter that part , we made runs within the area, it is a very bushy vast area ,muddy as well and we found some paraphernalia the guys used to break into the area. They pried open one of the back doors that had no burglar bars, at this point I can say the owner works somewhere out of the area and she has already been summoned but she has not come in as yet to ascertain what is missing from her residence."

"The burglars apparently had a gas tank and fans lined up at the back door; apparently they went with other items already but because of the alertness of neighbours in the area, hence the reason why we were alerted of the burglary in progress."
Police say that the initial team that was sent out to the burglary had vehicle trouble so another team had to be deployed. If the first team had got there on time, they might have caught the thieves. But police say they are determined to catch them because they may be involved in another recent burglary in the Ladyville. In both cases, the burglars destroyed the meter to disable any alarm system.
