Insp. Jose Mendez - Orange Walk Police
"Sometime around 9:45 pm last night, police responded to a call of an aggravated burglary process on the Belize Corozal road. That would be the same building where the Western Union office is. They responded, where one 55 year old Navin Padwani, business man of said address, reported that 2 male persons wearing masks enter his premises armed with a hand gun demanding monies. On not receiving any, threaten the persons and fired a shot after Mr. Padwani's television. However police responded and then the suspect manage to fled the scene. Nothing was stolen from the Mr. Padwani. This season, the Christmas season the criminal element will be out there and we have our programs our meet and greet programs, community policing programs where by the police interact with the community, the business community especially around this time, advise them as to their security measures if they could afford it to enhance it to be more efficient. Our personnel visit these areas and advise them as to what they need to do and in the event if they see anyone suspicious within the area they could dial our 911 number which is free."

Residents are advised to call police if they see anyone suspicious around their homes or places of business.
