Another man charged for trafficking only half a pound of weed was fined ten thousand dollars in court today. Kirk Lamb was charged along with his brother David, and pleaded guilty so his sibling could have the charge against him withdrawn. And while Lamb got a heavy fine which he has to pay by April 30th, he's lucky he wasn't confined for a heavy term in prison. Senior Magistrate Sharon Fraser said that she used her discretion and refrained from giving him a custodial sentence because he saved the court time by pleading guilty and has no previous conviction for drug offences. If he defaults on payment he will serve 3 years.
Lamb was busted on Friday afternoon when the Northside Strike Team, found 2 bags of weed on the floor of his bedroom. Kirk Lamb said he told the police that he was holding the cannabis for someone because it was Christmas time and he needs to eat.
