Senior Cop Committed to Prison For Owing Bank
posted (March 30, 2017)
Tonight a senior police officer is in jail at Hattieville. He's ASP Mark Stevens, the second in charge of the Dangriga Police Formation. Police had to serve a committal warrant on the senior officer because he owed a local bank a little over fifteen thousand dollars. As we understand it, the matter had been pending for some time, and when Stephens was unable to work it out, the bank took out a warrant against him which Police had to act on. So, yesterday, they picked up Stephens and committed him to jail. He'll remain there until he can settle his affairs with the bank. It's a double dose of embarrassment for the Dangriga formation because as we understand that the Officer In Charge is also out of commission. Superintendent Roy Joseph will go before the public services commission next week to face a charge of theft. It is alleged that he stole a thirty horsepower Yamaha engine. We'll keep following that case.
