Faber Tells Penner, Don’t Call It A Comeback
posted (May 10, 2017)

So as you saw, Elvin Penner’s testimony was unremarkable. He didn’t reveal anything substantial that could be used in the investigation. And he was careful, like most before him, not to expose too much. And if he seems to be going by the party playbook, there may be some truth to that because published reports suggest that Penner is contemplating making a political comeback for the UDP.  He says he’s considering it and will decide depending on how the re-districting goes in Cayo northeast.

So what does Deputy Prime Minister Patrick Faber think of that?  He will take over for the Prime Minister during this term of office, and today, he told us that he definitely doesn't want Penner as a candidate for his party:….

Hon. Patrick Faber - Deputy Prime Minister
"Well it is a matter for our party's nomination committee to decide whether Mr. Penner will be allowed back as a candidate for our party. I am suspecting that his chances would be very very slim and I will tell you that I certainly don't support him running as a candidate for our party again but that is not my sole decision to make. As to his appearing before the Senate Inquiry this morning, I'm missing the show because you know these things are spectacles but we're hoping that Mr. Penner can be useful to the entire process that is the true objective of the process because many will tell you that they believe that it has become a kind of soap opera entertainment rather than gunning for the objectives which is set out to do. We're hoping that his presentation this morning will help in the true objectives of the Senate Inquiry."

And while Penner’s testimony was an anti-climax, weeks to come should be more interesting as - we are told - that attorney Arthur Saldivar has expressed a willingness to appear and disclose where he got all those files from.
