Maya Mound Ground Down In San Pedro
posted (May 19, 2017)
If you follow the news, you'll probably remember the destruction of a part of the Uxbenka Mayan Site in September 2015. That caused some ugly racial friction, but a new case involving the destruction of a mound on private property in San Pedro isn't quite that controversial. According to the san Pedro Sun, the mound, located in the San Pablo neighborhood south of San Pedro Town, was disturbed. There's been an outcry to preserve it and we asked the Director of Archaeology to update us on it:

The Institute of Archaeology will investigate to determine the extent of the damage.
