Robbers Get Off With 40K In Double Jacking of Pesero’s At Home
posted (May 31, 2017)

And in Corozal town, two money changers were targeted outside their homes last night by armed robbers who made off with over forty thousand dollars in cash and valuables.
The two robberies occurred about an hour apart and within a few blocks of each other.

Around 9:00, forty three year old Jesus Aguilar, pulled up to his home and was about Ito drive in his yard when two dark skinned men wearing masks and carrying firearms ambushed him. One of the men pointed his firearm at Aguilar’s head the second pointed his revolver at Aguilar’s stomach.  They took a total of fifteen thousand dollars in Belize, Pesos and US currency which was inside his pickup. But that wasn't enough.  The robbers still took Aguilar’s jewellery and cell phone before they drove off in his pickup.

But Aguilar fired on the escaping vehicle, letting off as many as twelve shots from his 9 millimetre pistol.  Not far away, he found the pickup truck abandoned but the robbers had fled the area.

About an hour later, not far from where the first incident occurred, thirty eight year old Juanito Cowo, also a money changer was arriving home with his wife and two year old son when a masked, dark skinned man held up his wife while she was opening the door.  He then pulled Cowo out of the car, pointed a gun to his head and demanded his firearm and money. Cowo proceeded to hand over his money bag which contained a total of eighteen thousand dollars in Belize, Mexican and US currency as well as his licensed 9mm Lugar brand firearm.

The two men then allegedly made good their escape on foot.

No one has been detained and Corozal Police continue their investigation.
