And going back now to today’s hearings which were dominated by the testimony of Alvarine Burgess, we could almost hear the PUP’s cheerleading her.  And though three UDP Ministers have directly accused her of lying under oath, John Briceno who sat in the gallery and took it all in told us, not surprisingly, that he doesn’t think she has any reason to lie under oath:

“Well I don’t think that I am in a position to able to cast any judgement or any aspersion on any of the witnesses. They have been summoned here to give their side of the story. I see no reason why Ms. Alvarine Burgess would come here to lie in the Senate, she was even taken to the Supreme Court when Minister Castro sued her for defamation of character and towards the end of that Minister Castro as I’m told was advised that he need to withdraw that case because then he would have been in trouble. So I don’t see why she would be here in trying to make up any story.â€￾
