Today Belize's most talented young spellers gathered in Burrell Boom for the 2017 Bowen & Bowen National Spelling Bee - which is the 23rd time the event has been held.
After beating out 500 other students from throughout the country, the 12 best primary school spellers competed to win prizes and scholarship money. This is the second year in a row that a student from Bethel has won.
All 12 participants walked away with prizes for making it so deep into the competition.
