posted (July 6, 2017)
We also asked Minister of State Tracey Taegar Panton about what she thought of her colleagues' behavior in the senate hearings. Panton says she didn't see their testimonies but reminded them of their role as government representatives.

Hon. Tracey Taegar Panton, Minister of State, Investment Trade & Commerce
"I didn't see the senate inquiry yesterday, for me Wednesday is my constituency day so I am very busy doing work for the residents of the area. I have seen comments on Facebook but not that I can speak to directly. I will say that as leaders, as parliamentarians, as government representatives, we are all expected to carry ourselves with a certain decorum, we are expected to facilitate questions and answers as is necessary and I hope that my colleagues did that, I don't know in the manner in which they did becasue I didn't see the presentation first hand but I would say we do have a responsibility to carry ourselves with a certain decorum."

"Now ma'am do you feel that the senate inquiry has run its course?"

Hon. Tracey Taegar Panton
"For me the most important objective to realize is I think we are pretty clear on where there may have been weaknesses in the system, how do we correct the system and I am not sure that prolonging the discussions… there seems to be a lot of political grandstanding on both sides from the members who are posing the questions and from people who are responding, I don't know that that helps to serve the primary objective of the senate hearing and that is so that we can formulate recommendations that will help us to strengthen our system so that we can ensure transparency and accountability in all we do."

Later on we'll have a few more excerpts of Castro's and Martinez's testimony.
