Trove of BDF Uniforms Found At OW Residence, a Mexican Had The Connect
posted (July 7, 2017)
Tonight all kinds of questions are being asked after close to 100 BDF uniforms were found in a home in Orange Walk, along with a few unserviceable outboard engines - also from the BDF.

These were all found at a home in Baeza alley, but what's really raising questions is how the police, and the BDF were led to the trove of uniforms. Yesterday, a joint patrol operating in the western Orange Walk district searched a Mexican who had one of the BDF uniforms on him. He was taken in for questioning and he led police to his Belizean contact - at this home in Orange Walk - which is where all the items were found.

So, how did all of this get out of the BDF? And is some rogue operative within the BDF selling stuff to criminal elements who may have a connection to Mexican outlaws, or worse, Mexican cartels? This evening we spoke tot he BDF General via telephone and he said check with the Ministry of Finance, not the BDF:..

Brig. Gen. David Jones, BDF Commander
"There was one of the foot patrols who intercepted an individual who we believe is a Mexican with uniforms. He was later questioned I believe by the police and he later took the police to a house which had varying items of BDF uniforms and equipment which includes boating equipment. These items that were found at this particular house appears to be the items that we had back loaded over 3 weeks ago to the Ministry of Finance. So these items were written off and were handed over to the Ministry of Finance for final disposal. It have to be somewhere for someone for the Ministry of Finance how they would have got in contact with these items."

Jules Vasquez
"Now, I understand there as many as 100 BDF uniforms. Am I correct?"

Brig. Gen. David Jones, BDF Commander
"It's probably close to that number. Around 90 or a little over 90."

Jules Vasquez
"I understand they had multiple types of uniforms. However I understand there are also a few of the new type - the British type uniforms that you all are now using?"

Brig. Gen. David Jones, BDF Commander
"Yes, from what I understand the report I got the amount which was close to about around 90. There are also the green ones that were used by the volunteers before and there is one pair of the new type that we are wearing."

Jules Vasquez
"Now if one pair of the new type were in there, it would invalidate the story that it was with the Ministry of Finance, because there is no way a new uniform like this would have already been written off and handed over to the Ministry of Finance for destruction."

Brig. Gen. David Jones, BDF Commander
"We don't believe that is the case. We are doing our own internal investigation to find out how or who may have gotten rid of that uniform."

Jules Vasquez
"Obviously there are for military law enforcement purposes. They should not be in the hands of civilians. These items in the hands of criminals, clearly they can be used to perpetrate various acts of lawlessness if one pretends to be a BDF soldier."

Brig. Gen. David Jones, BDF Commander
"That is a possibility."

Jules Vasquez
"We have received information from sources which indicates that the Mexican - there were text messages which shows that he was in communication with a senior officer in the BDF. Have you receive such information?"

Brig. Gen. David Jones, BDF Commander
"No. I have not heard such rumor."

Jules Vasquez
"It is actually a transaction that he did this officer."

Brig. Gen. David Jones, BDF Commander
"No, I have not heard that rumor either."

Police have two men who were found at the home detained. One of them is saying he just lives downstairs and has nothing to do with the uniforms or the other items. They have not been charged, and we'll keep following the story very closely.
