Murder suspect Erwin Santos has been sentenced to 5 years in prison for a firearm offence. This is after a .22 rifle was found at his family home in Teakettle village.
Santos who turned himself into police two days ago, was taken to the Belmopan Magistrate's court this morning where he pled guilty to the charge.
Police told us that a murder charge will follow but this sentencing gives them more time to further investigate his involvement in the murders of Markey Mendez as well as Unitedville resident Jorge Lemus.
