The Countrywide Crime Picture

Finally, here’s a look at the number of murders that have been committed in the other 5 districts:

"In the Cayo District for the Belmopan command at the end of June 2017 4 murders were recorded, at the end of June 2016 10 murders were recorded. In San Ignacio 9 murders were recorded at the end of June 2017 compared to 6 murders in 2016. Benque Veijo had 1 murder recorded in 2017 up to the end of June and in 2016 June they also had 1 murder recorded. That shows for the Cayo District there were 14 murders committed at the end of June 2017 compared to 17 murders at the end of June 2016. The Corozal District recorded 6 murders at the end of June 2017 compared to 5 murders at the end of June 2016. The Orange Walk District recorded 4 murders at the end of June 2017 compared to 5 murders at the end of June 2016. In terms of the southern districts, Dangriga recorded 1 murder at the end of June 2017 compared to 5 murders at the end of June 2016. The Independence formation recorded 4 murders at the end of June 2017 compared to 4 murders at the end of June 2016 and the Placencia command recorded no murders for 2017 and they also had no murders at the end of June 2016. So that shows in terms of murder for the Stann Creek District there were 5 murders recorded at the end of June 2017 compared to 9 murders at the end of June 2016. For the Toledo District up to June 2017 3 murders were recorded compared to 2016 end of June where 4 murders were recorded. The country wide tally for murders at the end of June reflected that at the end of June 2017 we had recorded 70 murders compared to 2016 end of June where 73 murders had been recorded."

At the end of June, the murder count countrywide was 70, which is 3 less than the 73 committed last year this same time.
