Diego and Frida, Love Beyond Politics

About a half an hour ago, the Mexican Embassy opened a double art exhibit, which they are inviting Belizeans to come out and enjoy.

The first is called "Frida & Diego: A Smile at the Crossroads", and it is a nod to two of the well-known Mexican artists artists whose work represents a key part of Mexican History. Frida Kahlo was a world-renown painter, who with her husband, Diego Riviera, who is Mexico's most celebrated muralists. they were also communists, using their art to push for social change.

But this latest shows doesn't focus on their politics, it instead looks into the lives of two powerful personalities.

We stopped by and spoke with the Mexican Embassy's Counsellor for Legal Affairs and Press. Here's what he had to say about this first exhibit:

And the second art exhibit that the Embassy has on display is called "Mexican Cities: World Heritage". It's a series of shots which depict important Mexican locations that are World Heritage sites. Hugo Juarez Carrillo of the Mexican Embassy told us that it will certainly be appreciated by persons who love to travel:

In related news, tomorrow the Belize Postal Service and the Mexican Embassy will release a new set of commemorative postage stamps. It is designed to commemorate thirty five years of diplomatic relations between Belize and Mexico.

This new stamps are in denominations of twenty five cents and sixty cents. The twenty five cents stamp depicts the old Belize-Mexico Bridge, which was erected in 1964.

The sixty cent stamp depicts the modern new Belize-Mexico Bridge, which was officially opened to the public on May 15, 2013.
