posted (November 30, 2017)
One year ago the government of Belize signed on to the United Nations Convention Against Corruption. Now, the Belize City Council in collaboration with the ministry of local government and the Belize Mayor's Association are holding a training next month on accountability and transparency. It is going to be attended by local government practitioners throughout the country. Mayor Bradley explained more.

Darrell Bradley, Mayor - Belize City
"Which will feature presentations from various entities within Belize that are responsible for ensuring the appropriateness of government business including the presentations from the auditor general's department, presentations from the integrity commission, presentations from the ombudsman. We will also be talking about leadership and accountability as a facet of effectiveness and one of the reasons why the council decided to do this coordination and collaboration with the ministry of local government and the mayor association is that we are mindful of the one year anniversary of the government of Belize signing on to the United Nations convention against corruption and we believe that it is a big step for the country and we believe that our sectors of government must make improvements in sectors of transparency and accountability."

The training will be a one day all day session. It will be held on December 6th at the Radisson Fort George.
