posted (December 14, 2017)
The last thing you want to hear for the Christmas is a lecture on safety tips. Besides, all people care about is celebrating with family and friends and eating turkey and black cake. But the police warn not to get too caught up in the merriment. Today the police outlined some safety tips that many people might take for granted.

Sr. Supt. Bart Jones, Police PR
"Police across the country have start their anti-crime efforts. That's means there will be more boots on the ground across the country particularly in the major towns and the two cities. As well we want to send out some preventative tips. We know that at this time many persons would be shopping or looking to do their shopping, so when you go out there to the stores we implore on person, although there are police officers out there, you go to the stores don't be taking out large bundles of cash, because you never know who will be watching. If you go to the ATMs ensure that you check your surroundings, particularly when exiting the ATMs, because we believe that criminals takes the opportunity to for the weak vulnerable victims."

"Equally, while we are shopping we ask that we don't keep any valuables in vehicles, particularly laptops. If you are going shopping, laptops, flat screen TVs that you might have purchased and leave it in the car and go to another store, it only takes a few minutes for someone to break into your car and remove those items. As well, don't take the chance of parking in front of a store and just rushing in there for two minutes leaving your engine on, because you might come out and find your vehicle filled with all your goodies that you would have bought, have gone."

"And as well for those of us who will be traveling, you might want to consider how you advertise your travel on social media, because that may alert persons that you are not around and allowed for your place to be broken into."

"We know that from time to time, persons may not speak to their neighbors, but if you see strange persons lurking around your neighbor's yard, inform the neighbor. Even you are not seeing eye to eye with your neighbor, but inform them or call the police even if you don't want to talk to that neighbor, so that we can intervene."

And one other final tip, the police again re-iterated the dangers of toy guns. So note to parents, you might want to reconsider buying your kids another gift just to be safe.
