Man On Motorbike Dies In Collision With Pickup
posted (December 18, 2017)
A Unitedville resident was killed in an accident on Saturday. 39 year old Leo Ampie Flores was heading to UNitedville on his motorcycle and he collided into a Wingle Truck that was traveling in the opposite direction. The accident happened at mile 50 in Camalote. Now the family just wants answers. Courtney Weatherburne has more.

Courtney Weatherburne reporting
After finishing off from work at the Santander Sugar Factory, Leo Ampie comes here to help his common law wife run her Unitedville restaurant. It has been their routine for 5 years.

But that routine has been broken forever. As captured in this amateur video, Ampie was killed in a head on collision. On Saturday evening after 4:00, Ampie was heading to his wife's spot on his Skygo motorcycle when San Ignacio Lab Technician, Winston Gordon was in his Wingle with his kids heading to Belmopan.

They crashed into each other. Ampie was violently flung off his motorcycle and died on the spot. Ampie was in such a bad state that the police didn't want the family to see him at the morgue, so it is only through pictures that his family identified him. Now it is still not clear what exactly happened.

Denise Gordon, Niece
"Well we actually no really know what really happened. It's just what we see people posting on Facebook or on the news page saying that the guy was overtaking and hit him and different people saying different things, but nobody hasten come to us, not even the guy was in the accident, so we don't have a clue of what really took place."

So all the family wants is justice so they can try and heal from the pain.

Therese Madison, Common law- wife
"I am hurt and I want justice. I want the person who do it to take responsibility for what he has done."

Ampie is originally from Nicaragua.

Neither Gordon nor his kids received major injuries. Police have taken urine samples from Gordon and he has been served with a Notice of Intended prosecution. A police report says, quote, "The Skygo motorcycle…did not appear to be insured nor had any headlights."
