Judge: Keyron Didn’t Kill Christopher
posted (December 18, 2017)
12 days ago, we told you about 26 year-old Keyron Johnson, who stood trial for the April 2012 murder of Christopher Jorgenson. Well, after his deliberations, Justice Adolph Lucas ruled that he is not guilty of the crime.

As we told you, it happened at around 7:45 p.m. on April 15, 2016, and Jorgenson, who was shot in the lower abdomen, died 3 days later at the KHMH.

The crown counsel's main witness was Jorgenson's sister, who said that she heard the gunshots, and when she looked out from her verandah, she saw her brother frantically running away from the nearby basketball court. She said that he was being pursued by a gunman she identified as Keyron Johnson.

In her testimony, she saw Johnson's face about from 10 feet away, for about 1 minute when he ran past her.

Well, in his judgement today, Justice Lucas reasoned that her account wasn't believable. He said that this supposed gunman would have had to been jogging at a snails pace to give Jorgenson's sister enough time to see his face for an entire minute. He also commented that Crown counsel Janelle Tillett was unable to refute the defense testimony of Shenique Michael, who corroborated Johnson's dock statement that he couldn't have committed the murder because he was at her house on JR Street. She said that they were on her couch watching Lifetime movies while he tried to court her.

Justice Lucas said that the prosecution did not lead irrefutable evidence to convince him that Keyron Johnson shot and killed Christopher Jorgenson. He then acquitted Johnson of the murder.

Johnson was represented by attorney Bryan Neal.
