Arraignment For Robber Shot At Monica’s
posted (December 19, 2017)
There was big excitement last week Thursday afternoon when four men attempted rob Monica's Pawn Shop in Belize City - and one of them got shot. Today he was taken to court still recovering from the injury to his left arm. Dean Nembhard was charged with robbery. He pled not guilty and was remanded into custody until January 31st. His three alleged accomplices are still at large, and police continue to look for them.

The story of how he was shot is quite an unusual one. According to reports, Dorian Usher - who is part of the family ownership of the business - was in the store with employees when he saw four suspicious men enter.

Usher stepped outside and presented himself as a customer. The men then held him up and he handed over his jewelry. But, he caught them off guard and then drew his licensed pistol. That led to an exchange of gunfire between him and his assailants which is when Nembhard was shot in the arm. Usher personally apprehended Nembhard and held him in custody until the police arrived.
