No Arrest For Weekend Murders
posted (December 19, 2017)
Last night we reported on three murders: one in Belmopan, one in Belize City and the third in Independence. So far, no arrests have been made for any of them.

In the first Belize City murder of 53 yea rold car dealer Mark Vasquez - the main suspect remains hospitalized. He is Osbaldo Nieto - and he was found running from the scene of Vasquez's murder with his own injuries. Vasquez was fatally stabbed, while Nieto received stab wounds. Police say that the two of them struggled, which led to Vasquez's death.

In the Belmopan murder of 69 year old taxi-man Oswald Lopez, Belmopan police have a known suspect - who is on the run. So far, police have collected key pieces of evidence linking him to the crime, including apparel and possibly the murder weapon.

And, in the Independence murder of 21 year old Victor Pou, police have three suspects - but not much else. The young man was chopped to death at 11:00 on Saturday on a dark area of the Big Creek Road. Police believe he was robbed and have detained three men who were allegedly on a spree that night. The men are originally from Belize city - and while none of them has been charged for murder - this evening one was charged for another robbery which occurred before the murder.
