Christmas trees have been put up, houses have been decorated, and the food preparation has begun. But as the big day nears many Belizeans are just getting around to that famous last minute shopping for the perfect gift. Special deals and popular products fill stores all around the country and today we found out what the golden gifts are this Christmas.

The highly anticipated arrival of the beloved Christmas day is right around the corner, but for many, the hunt for the perfect gift has just begun. Stores all over the country have deals that make every day seem like black Friday. But what are all these customers actually buying?

"Well right now they are buying a lot of MP3 players, a lot of Bluetooth speakers, Christmas trees. The fiber optic as you can see. They are buying a lot of stuff."

"In terms of kids gift is there a certain toy that parents are really getting for their kids right now?"

"Yeah they are getting the Frozen tables, the Frozen bangles, the Frozen musical instruments. We have a lot of frozen things selling along with Spiderman bikes."

"To you what is the biggest selling thing here overall this Christmas?"

"Well to me I think the Marley. People buy a lot of Marley. They buy it by the roll and some buy it by yards and we have curtains too. A lot of people buy the curtains.Well right now for boys we have remote control cars from ages 2 to 13. We have building blocks for kids. For girls, we have the big Barbie dolls that are a big thing for kids. We have the strollers that the girls can push their dolls around.â€￾

"What about adults? Is there something particular adults are buying?"

"Well right now they are buying a lot of picture frames. Once you have a picture of your family member that is a big thing. We have plate sets. We have comforter sets. Adults are buying Marley a lot and table plastic.â€￾

And while those Christmas purchases are perfectly practical, those seeking a magical gift will turn to electronic items. From gaming systems to Bluetooth speakers, they are all going fast.

"So tell us what is the big selling item this year for Christmas."

"We have gaming systems this year that a lot of people are attracted to. Tablets are always a big seller. LED TVs, curve TVs actually is something that has been very interesting this year as well. For the smaller gadgets, we have Bluetooth speakers, headphones and cheaper more economical stuff that people are coming out for gifts. Drones you have the basic camera one and the professional Wi-Fi camera one."

"We have androids. We have made everything really affordable for the Christmas. For $135 up you can get an android phone with LTE all the features one can possibly need so we have a lot of deals on that. We have Samsung Galaxies which are very hot. Apple, of course, we have the iPhone X with apple this year. It is a big hit people are really embracing that. We have from low-end androids to the iPhone X.â€￾

And while the iPhone X will set you back a few thousand dollars - every boy and girl - even this one - would be more than happy to find that under the tree on Christmas day.
