In the case of teacher Desmond Lewis, it is more straightforward. The teacher from Independence Village was found on Maureen Leslie Street yesterday morning with his throat slashed and other stab wounds to the chest.
Lewis, who lives in Dangriga came to Belize, and he was staying with a friend on that street in Belize City. Reports are that he was found dead kneeling between two bed posts in his friend's home.
The Head of the National Crimes Investigation Branch shared what information he had on Lewis' murder:

"Sometime around 2:40 am police responded to number 106 Antelope Street Extension Belize City where they observe the lifeless body Desmond Lewis, 35 years Belizean teacher of a Dangriga address with a large cut wound to the neck and he was motionless. The scene was processed and his body was transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, police have since commenced an investigation into this matter."

"Sir there has been persistent reports that the gentleman was found wearing women's clothing so to allay any concern, have police ruled out that this is some sort of hate crime against a specific group of people?"
