posted (December 29, 2017)
Assistant Police Commissioner Myvette also discussed the murder of Errol Gabourel Smith. He's the Roaring Creek resident who was found floating in the river, an area near the Y-Wam Bridge in the village, early on Wednesday morning. Someone shot him in the head and attempted to dispose of his body. But before it could be carried off by the current, it was found by villagers who went to the area that morning. Today, Myvette told us that they have a suspect, who is in the custody of Corozal Police:

ACP Joseph Myvette - Head National Crimes Investigation
"There is an update in regards to the Errol Gabourel murder investigation which occurred in Belmopan on Wednesday last. The police have 2 persons detained, one of the these persons were involved in several other investigations including the shooting of Jose Najera which had occurred in Belmopan last week for which he will be charged. This suspect is also in Corozal facing charged for the theft of copper wire which had occurred I believe from the SMART or BTL tower. He is facing charges this morning for that before he is back to Belmopan to face other charges."

We'll keep following the story, and we'll tell you if and when investigators bring criminal charges for Smith's murder.
