Alleged Driver of Cocaine Carrying Navigator Remanded
posted (January 3, 2018)

Last night we told you how Corozal police had finally tracked down the driver of the cocaine carrying Lincoln Navigator.  IT crashed into the customs fence at the northern border three weeks ago.

He is 41 year old Robert Gentle, a driver of Ranchito Village in the Corozal District.  He was charged with drug trafficking when he appeared yesterday at Corozal Magistrate's Court before Magistrate Patricia Arana. Gentle pled not guilty to the charge. He was denied bail and he was remanded into custody until February 20.

Based on information from an X-Ray taken on the Mexican side of the border, Belize Customs and Police detected a hidden compartment behind the dashboard where they found 6 parcels of cocaine weighing 6.3 kilos or just about 14 pounds. The approximate street value in Belize is 150 thousand dollars, but in the US it is far more.

Based on information provided by the Mexicans, Gentle is believed to have been the driver who crashed into the fence at the cargo section and then made a run for it.

The vehicle is registered to a Belize City owner, Dwight Faber who reported it stolen a few minutes after the accident.
