Older Man Shot in Gang Warzone - Wasn’t The Intended Target
posted (January 4, 2018)
The violence continued in the city last night - and again it was the product of gang warfare between Victoria Street and Pink's Alley. 59-year-old Charles Foreman was shot while at his home on #9 Pickstock Street - which is one block across from Victoria Street. The shot went into his cheek and exited through his neck and has left Foreman in Critical condition at the KHMH. Sahar Vasquez found out more about the shooting.

Sahar Vasquez reporting
59-year-old Charles Foreman sat in the comfort of his living room last night socializing with a few other when things went terribly wrong.

Several shots were fired at his house a little after 8 pm. The shots came out of nowhere. Everyone escaped unhurt except for Foreman. He was shot in the face.

Foreman now lies in a hospital bed in critical condition. But was he really the target? Well according to the police the 59-year-old Foreman was not the intended target.

Jules Vasquez, reporter
"Now I am told that his son who has the same name may have been a target. Have you all received any information about that?"

ASP Alejandro Cowo, OC- CIB Belize City
"What happened, what we understand is that he was in the company of other persons. At the moment it was not him who was the target but it was another figure that was at the house. He was, unfortunately, the one that was injured."

But Foreman and his family are not the only ones left traumatized by the events that unfolded last night. A female tenant occupies the upstairs apartment of Foreman's residence and she not only heard the shots but witnessed two bullets pierce holes in the window and ceiling of her apartment.

For her, a regular night turned into a nightmare. She and her kids are so shaken up, they afraid to even go to sleep.

Voice of Neighbor
"Yes I was just sitting in the chair with my daughter, niece, son, mom, and sister. We were all here just having a conversation and watching television and all of a sudden we just heard the shots. As the glass shattered we got on the ground and crawled into my room to take cover."

Sahar Vasquez, reporter
"So the shots actually made it into your house?"

Voice of Neighbor
"Yes, two shots. As you can see up in the ceiling but none of them hit us. I heard almost 4 to 5 shots. It was shocking. I am still traumatized by everything. I am afraid to sleep. My kids are afraid to sleep too because of what happened."

She has lived there for about 14 years and says this is the first time anything like this has ever happened. She is just in a state of shock and sorrow not just because of what happened but also because her innocent neighbour Charles Foreman was shot. She is close to the Foreman family and made it clear that Foreman has a heart of gold.

Voice of Neighbor
"He comes and hails you. If he cooks he will give you a plate of food. He hangs out with everyone and laughs. He comes in from work and sleeps, watches Westerns, takes his cigarette, and take a little drink. He does not mess with anybody. He just keeps to himself, his family, and his neighbours around here. We all talk and run jokes with each other so what happened last night is still shocking to all of us."

Police in the area responded quickly and did find a male suspect in the area. They chased him but he managed to escape.
