Well known taxi-man and activist Roy "Bullet" Craig has been charged for sexual assault of a 16 year old boy. On Thursday night 76 year old Craig allegedly picked up the boy on Caesar Ridge Road and took him to Honey's Hotel on Dolphin Drive. Someone in the area called the police when they saw Craig and the boy getting a room. One of the hotel attendants took the police to Craig's room where they found him naked with the minor. Today police told us more.

"Police responded to an information at Honey's Hotel located at Dolphin Drive Belize City upon their arrival there at room number 30 they observed a male person and a minor completely nude as a result the minor was escorted to the station and the male person was detained. So far the investigation, one person was charged on Saturday morning, that person is Mr. Roy Craig and he charged for the offense was charged with the offense of sexual assault upon a minor."
"What we understand is that the male person was walking on Caesar Ridge when he, before reaching to the football field. He met Mr. Craig there and he was place inside the vehicle and taken to this Honey's hotel located on Dolphin Drive."
According to one of the hotel attendants, Craig is a regular at the hotel but this is the first time he has taken a minor along with him.
Today in court, Craig appeared before Magistrate Michelle Trapp. He pled not guilty to the charge. He was offered a bail of $5,000 on the condition that he does not go within 100 feet of the complainant and that he does not contact the complainant or any member of his family.
The 16 year old boy reported to the police that while he and Craig were in the room of a hotel, Craig put his penis between his thighs.
It could prove to be an interesting test case, since 16 is the age of sexual consent - but that has only ever been a factor in cases involving girls. With the sodomy law now changed to allow sex between consenting adult males, it is left to be seen what this case will establish.
Craig should have an ardent lobbyist in his corner, since leading gay rights activist Caleb Orosco is his step-son.
