Cops Harassing Her Son?
posted (February 28, 2018)
A Ladyville mother says police keep harassing her 17 year old son. Joy Belazaire told us today that it started on Sunday when police detained her son in Orange Walk for driving a stolen motorcycle with no license. Belazaire says that her son did not know the motorcycle was stolen because a friend just lent him the cycle. But somehow her son's name was called up in Ladyville in relation to a separate incident. She says this is not the first time police have detained her son and she has had it. Here is what she had to say.

Joy Belazaire, Mother
"Monday evening while I was in Orange Walk to deal with my son the officer told me that after he is finished charging him with.... The officer tell me that they would charge him for handling stolen goods and 3 traffic offense and well he say after he done a charge him they still can't release him, they have to hold him because Ladyville police want him pertaining to some robbery. So I take it upon myself to come down after I left my son Monday evening because they still didn't charge him. I left from Orange Walk and come down to Ladyville police station and ask to talk to the bigger boss."

"My main thing is that the feedback that I get from the head of the station. The officer say he is doing a lot of bad thing in Ladyville and his mom is encouraging him in a lot of things and anytime they bring him from Orange Walk, we will lock him down and that is not right."

"Ladyville police is targeting my son and I believe that is what is happening."

Courtney Weatherburne, reporter
"So this is not the first time that they detained your son either?"

Joy Belazaire, Mother
"No, this is not the first time and every time anything happen they come to pick up my son."

When we checked this evening, the minor still had not been released from the Ladyville police station.
