And while Minister Usher says the accident was caused by a tire blowout, Espat agrees that one of the main causes of these wreckages is speeding, especially on the highways. He even admitted that at times he has a bad habit of speeding as well.

"I believe most Belizeans tend drive recklessly and at high speeds including myself and we have to be able to make sure we minimize that. The laws are pretty clear the highways are designed fro 55mph nobody drives 55mph but we complain when we have accidents. So including myself I have to scold myself and others lets drive safely let us not drink and drive and lets respect the laws."
