DPM Says Cabinet Will Soon Discuss Allowance Cut
posted (October 22, 2026)
We also asked the DPM if he still agrees with area reps cutting their allowances. He previously suggested it to prove that the government isn't disconnected from the people and their struggles, but when we asked the PM on Wednesday, he explained that it's oftentimes the same allowances that area reps dip into to assist their constituents. We followed up with DPM Hyde on this today and he says they will discuss the issue in cabinet next week.

Cordel Hyde, Minister of Natural Resources
"In pretty much every dollar, every resource that area representatives and ministers get they really have to plow into their constituency they really have to plow into the work and the people in their constituency the proof of the pudding is in eating. If you do your job and you take care proof your people then you will be returned to office and If you don't do your job and you don't take care of your people then you won't be returned to office and so pretty much all of our resources go there but you know I stand by my original proposal but I don't want to publicly, deliberate and debate it we will have a cabinet meeting pretty soon soon, next week I believe and we will get to discuss it there and I think ti is absolutely important and hopefully I will be able to convince as many of my colleagues as possible for us to make that move for us too send that signal to our constituents that we stand with them that they are suffering and we are going to stand with them. Because as I said in my speech earlier all over the world people are struggling, all over the world world people are having the hardest time time because of the effects of the war in Iran. None of our small countries started that wart all of our people have to grapple with the consequences of that war and one of the senior consequences of that war is the unbelievably incredibly high cost of living and people all over the world, here and abroad have to struggle with that have to grapple with that have to struggle to make ends meet and we have to show our people that we are prepared to make the sacrifices too but as I said I don't want to debate that publicly we will do that internally next week."
