Early this morning 21 year old Marvin Chi was brutally beaten and stoned as he left a night club in San Pedro – and he says that off duty police officers did it. Chi says that around 3 this morning he along with his younger brother and a friend were leaving the Big Daddy’s Night Club when the off duty officers attacked him. The officers were in the company of his common-law wife but chi says they attacked him for no reason.

“The guys attacked me. I don’t know if they set that up or what was going on with them. I was the first one to get attacked by two guys, one being a police officer and the other a special constable and this is how they left me.”

What did they hit you with?

Marvin Chi,
“Well first he came and punched me right in the face here on the side. Then I tried to defend myself but there were others around and so I couldn’t manage to take on all of them. They ended up beating me up.”

Keith Swift,
With what?

Marvin Chi,
“With their hands, they had bricks, the police officer had a bottle. I tried to defend myself but I couldn’t.”

Keith Swift,
So you are in pain right now?

Marvin Chi,
“Definitely I am in pain. I don’t feel alright. My head is hurting me, I have like three bust heads, there is a small piece of my ear missing on the left side, this is something they did without mercy. They just attacked me and beat me up very bad.”

Keith Swift,
And you are saying you didn’t in any way provoke this attack?

Marvin Chi,
“No I didn’t even know those guys. I see them around town and I know they are police officers. I haven’t talked to them or nothing before.”

Keith Swift,
So why would they just beat you for no reason?

Marvin Chi,
“I don’t know. I have my common-law wife, she was with them, I don’t know if they are having an affair or something like that. I don’t know about that. I want to see justice because this is not the first time. I’ve been living in San Pedro for three years and I’ve never been in a fight before. Look at how I am now, they are police officers, they should be setting an example, not doing the opposite which they did to me. I definitely want to see some justice because this has to stop. They are police officers, they can’t be doing this to everyone.”

Chi travelled to Belize City this evening to take a cat scan. He has three large wounds to his head and part of his ear is missing. He has made a police report.
