An American tourist who came to Belize on a cruise ship drowned this morning.
Edwardo Lenan and his wife from Orlando Florida sailed into Belize this morning
on Carnival’s Glory. The couple went cave tubing and that’s when
disaster struck. Those who work in the area say the Cave’s Branch River
was too high and that’s why most tours were cancelled. But one wasn’t
and witnesses say around 10:30 they heard screams.
When they went to check they saw chaos as the strong currents were too much
for the tourists. And it was those currents swept Mrs. Lenan under a rock where
she drowned. They attempted CPR but she was already dead. Police and the tourism
board are investigating. In related news, flood waters in the south have receded
and the Waha and Kendall Bridges were re-opened. |
