Be on the lookout for counterfeit notes! That’s what the police and Central Bank are warning. According to a police release counterfeits of both Belize $50 notes and US$100 notes are in circulation.

The release warns money handlers to scrutinize those bills carefully, especially when handling money in the dark.

The $50 note has a number of security features, most prominently, the sleeping giant watermark which can only be seen when the bill is held up to the light.
