Herman Miranda Busted Near Murder Scene
Wed, September 30, 2009

Earlier we told you about the murder of Norman Gillett and that police had detained two persons. Sources tell 7News that one of the main suspects detained by police has been identified only as one Madrill, today it was another young man who was escorted over to Belize City Magistrate’s Court in connection with the bloody homicide.

We are not sure exactly what role twenty one year old Herman Miranda played in the killing of Norman Gillett but today he pled guilty to keeping ammunition without a gun license. According to court reports, while at the crime scene last night and searching for their suspects, police observed Herman Miranda sitting on the veranda of a house at the corner of Partridge and Vernon Streets.

Police conducted a search on Herman Miranda and inside his left front pants pocket they found two rounds of nine milimeter calibre ammunition, the same kind of bullets that were used in the homicide. Today Herman Miranda after pleading guilty to the ammunition charge was sentenced to two years in prison.

And while we are not sure what evidence the police may have against the accused to suggest that he was involved in the killing, court reports are that the police say they are also going to charge Herman Miranda for the murder but for right now he has been charged and sentenced only for keeping ammunition without a gun license.

Information is that on Thursday, Herman Miranda will be taken back to Belize City Magistrate’s Court when he will be arraigned on the charge of murder. Meanwhile police tell 7News they continue to look for two more suspects.
