Teacher Jailed on Committal Warrants

A teacher at the Maud Williams High School is in jail tonight. Eden Rowley was detained yesterday on the strength of three committal warrants for $3,000 owed to Courts Belize Limited. He was in the holding cell at the Magistrate’s Court when he stepped out and made a mad dash for freedom. Police set chase and Rowley was detained. Rowley will spend 6 weeks in jail and if he doesn’t pay the outstanding debt, he will be detained for another six weeks. He will remain detained until he pays the debt.
