| Carlos Espat Murdered | | Mon, September 6, 2010 | | 
Carlos Espat - the elder brother of Albert Area representative, Mark Espat - was found dead in his home on Saturday morning. The 47 year old was found dead in his bathtub at his Albert street apartment by his brothers Phillip and Mark on Saturday morning.
Police got the call at 11:30 and when they arrived could not find any signs of foul play or forced entry or foul play and preliminarily concluded that he may have slipped in the tub and hit his head.
But after a post mortem examination, that conclusion has been scrapped and tonight police are investigating his death as a murder. That's because the post mortem established the cause of death as "Broncho Aspiration due to head and chest injuries due to blunt trauma".
That basically means he was bludgeoned to the chest and head and then choked when the contents of his stomach went into his lungs. According to medical professionals we spoke with that usually happens to persons who have been knocked unconscious.
Funeral arrangements have been set for tomorrow at 2:00 at Holy Redeemer Cathedral. But while he is laid to rest, the mystery of this very high profile murder is far from being solved. Police have no motives and no suspects at this time.
Espat was a career educator and also worked as the secretary general of the PUP in the 1990's - and was a key part of the PUP's landslide in 1998.
