Police Make Cold Case Arrest

Police have made an arrest in a case dating back to December of last year.

Twenty year old Akeem Humes, a carpenter of 102 East Canal was charged with the murder of 29 year old Jason Flores when he appeared today in Magistrate's Court.

No plea was taken, he was denied bail and remanded until October 27th.

The murder happened at around 6:20am on December 9th, 2009. Flores, a resident of Neal Pen Road, was riding his bicycle on Kraal Road heading from work when he was shot in the side of his abdomen. Flores fell from his bicycle. He was taken to the Karl Huesner Memorial Hospital where he died one hour later.

Almost 5 months after the incident Ryan Alvarez was charged with Flores' murder. Then now almost 10 months later Humes becomes the second to be charged.
