And in other immigration news….

Government plans to introduce an immigration amnesty programme in early 2011. Projections are that it could grant permanent resident status to 20 thousand illegal immigrants who are living in Belize.

Only those who can prove that they have lived with their children at least two years in Belize would be allowed to apply. According to a confidential cabinet paper that made the story public, the cost per adult would be 250 dollars and 100 dollars per child.

It is expected to be launched in April of next year.
