Con-Man Constable Remanded
Mon, November 22, 2010
Forty-five year old former Special Constable Emmanuel Lopez has gone from constable to con man to remanded prisoner tonight.

Lopez allegedly tried to solicit funds from GS Com by pretending to be a police officer, was charged with unlawful possession of accoutrement when he appeared today in the #5 Magistrate's Court.

According to police reports, on Thursday, November 18, Lopez went to GS COM at #8 Baymen Avenue and asked the sales representative, Ms Ramos, several questions while writing the answers in a notebook that was issued to him while he was a special constable.

Ms. Ramos became suspicious and she told her boss who called the police. Lopez said he was trying to get donations for a death in his family.

Lopez pleaded guilty to the charge but Magistrate Herbert Hoare entered an equivocal plea of not guilty because Lopez didn't entirely agree with the facts.

Lopez was offered a bail of $750.00 and his case was adjourned until Wednesday, November 24. Lopez didn't meet bail so he was remanded to prison.
