Telemedia On Paul Perriot
Mon, February 28, 2011
Last week Senator Paul Perriot Made headlines everywhere - after he resigned form Telemedia, saying the company railroaded him with a dead end transfer which he said was equivalent to union busting. Telemedia was quiet but today issued a release saying that the company has a right to transfer any employee to work in any part of the country and that he was given 30 days' notice in keeping with the collective bargaining agreement. The company adds that Perriot was not president of the Belize Communication Workers Union. Telemedia says that - based on legal advice - it ignored the outcome of a purported election of a new executive on August 21, 2010 - and continued to communicate with the duly elected executive - which was elected in 2008.
