PUP Accuses PUP Of Guat Conspiracy
Fri, April 29, 2011
The National Perspective newspaper is a PUP paper - no doubt about that, but most informed observers say it represents the old guard - and a seriously hawkish element in that "O-G."

And that's why the paper stunned us with its headline today which accused the PUP of receiving financing from Guatemala! That's right, the paper alleges that it's an arrangement worked out principally by Narda Garcia, who sits on the PUP executive and her sister, Sandra Torres, who is the former Guatemalan first lady and now a frontrunner to be that country's next president.

The article in the Perspective alleges that Guatemala's ruling party, has indicated that it will make funds available to the PUP and in exchange Garcia - would get certain leverage within the executive.

The Perspective says the information about what it calls a conspiracy is "unsubstantiated but consistent." We were unable to reach party leader John Briceno for comment. Narda Garcia had no comment and would only say that she has a family relationship with her sister and they do not get into each other's politics.

Now, while there's nothing by way of fact to support the claim at this time - the news in it right now is the seriousness of the attack on PUP leader John Briceno's leadership from no less than a PUP newspaper.
