More Streets, More Names
Wed, June 1, 2011
In February of this year, City Mayor Zenaida Moya Flowers launched the first phase of the city's campaign to come up with names for more than 300 city streets that remain nameless. In that first phase, the City Council Street Naming Committee honored 34 distinguished educators with a street named after them. Today, 3 months later, the city launched its second phase by honoring 54 more educators with more than 35 years of service, and 18 longtime volunteers of both the Girl Guide service and YWCA. Belize City has more than Seven hundred streets, including alleys and boulevards. Of that seven hundred, only 400 are currently named. Today's event took place at the St. John's Vianney Primary School. End
