It happened at about 1:15 in the afternoon when a 30 year old female US national was riding from Belmopan to Dangriga when she was ambushed and raped by a man lurking on the side of the Stann Creek Valley Road at mile 17 and a quarter.

She told police that that Hispanic man appeared from out of the bushes and pushed her off her bicycle, threw her into a ditch, stripped and raped her. When he was finished, she reported that he tied her hands with her blouse and shoelaces and stole her digital camera, four memory cards and her bicycle pump.
