BUA Leader Lopez Claims Funny Phone Business

Last night he told us about his campaign financing and tonight Belize Unity Alliance candidate for Belize Rural South Bobby Lopez is telling us that his phone is being tapped.

A release says that as leader of the BUA, he is quote, "gravely concerned that the ruling party or its appointees appear to be intercepting his telephone service."

He says that over the past week, he has been targeted by sudden and dramatic alterations in cell phone service. And while we all have phone trouble form time to time, he says this is no coincidence or casual system fault. He says that specific persons hear beeping noises at the beginning of a conversation, as well as breaks in voice, and frustrating static.

A BTL rep told us this evening that quote, "Telemedia is an upstanding corporate citizen and would never violate our customer's privacy. If a legitimate fault exists, Telemedia would like to be given the opportunity to correct such fault."
